The Chicago Parent Program: Making a Difference for Parents of Young Children

Parents, group leaders, and Deborah Gross, developer of The Chicago Parent Program, share testimonials around the impact The Chicago Parent Program has had on children, parents, and communities.

The Chicago Parent Program is a 12-session evidence-based parenting program created for parents of young children (2-5 years old) and designed to meet the needs of a culturally and economically diverse audience. The program has been rigorously tested and shown to strengthen parenting and reduce behavior problems in young children.

Are You Addressing The Needs Of The Whole Child?

The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is offering a Chicago Parent Program behavior training workshop on August 14-15, 2017. Designed for child psychiatrists, pediatricians, nurses, and physicians in family medicine, and other medical personnel who work with children ages 2-5, The Chicago Parent Program will prepare you to facilitate Chicago Parent Program groups with parents of young children in your practice.

This workshop is meant to improve health professionals' skills at recognizing and intervening to reduce behavioral issues in their young patients. The Chicago Parent Program has previously been shown to improve parenting skills and confidence and reduce childhood behavior problems.

Listed on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices, the California Evidence-based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare and the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness, The Chicago Parent Program was developed with and for parents from diverse backgrounds. The workshop has previously been offered to early-childhood educators and school-based clinicians.
